One of my goals for 2024 is to post at least one blog post each month. Seeing that it is the last day of July and that I haven’t posted anything at all this month it was high time to say hello!
Life has been a bit busy and full on. We‘ve all had hand, foot and mouth a few weeks ago and it took quite a while to fully recover and catch up on life. There’s also some family stuff going on as well just the normal demands of everyday life with small children.
It’s wonderful but also exhausting. Overall though, I am really happy right now. I thought after a bit of time away, I‘d share a little update on what life has looked like lately.
Lately, I‘ve been…
Eating cucumbers from our garden!
Drinking iced coffee and lots of water. After many weeks of rain summer is finally here and it is hot! Today we‘ve had 34 degrees in the shade.
Wearing my bathing suit due to spending lots of time at the pool and summer dresses – some of which are made by me!
Reading “Good Inside” by Dr Becky Kennedy, “Praying like monks, living like fools” by Tyler Staton and “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby van Pelt. All of which are amazing.
Listening to my usual podcasts: Spiegel Lage, BibleProject and the Lazy Genius.
Obsessed with watching the Olympics! I am completely fascinated with the athletes and the unreal things they accomplish. So far, I have especially enjoyed watching the triathlon, the swimming, rowing and tennis. I normally never watch TV but at the moment I switch it on whenever I can to catch some of the coverage.
Feeling happy, overwhelmed, grateful, restless.
Excited about SJs third birthday which we’re celebrating next week. I am so incredibly proud of my smart, funny, creative and kind girl. She is such a gift. Also, we have a little party planned for her and I am so grateful for all of SJs friends and their lovely parents that are such fun to hang out with.
Amazed by our little LH! She turned six months yesterday and she is so much fun. She is already crawling and always full of smiles.
Enjoying our local pool. I wish I was able to swim more but it’s nice to hang here and cool off with the girls, my brother and nephews and lots of friends.
Knitting mostly on my Copenhagen Cardigan. I am almost finished!!
Loving our eBike! We have a bike trailer that the girls can sit in and I basically cycle everywhere these days. It makes my life so much easier and I get in a bit of exercise at the same time.
Wasting time on the New York Times Games app. I have become a genius at playing Spelling Bee. Everyone needs a little guilty pleasure, right?
Emotional over the fact that SJ has her last week at nursery next week. She will start Kindergarten in October and until then be at home. She’s had such a wonderful and special time at nursery and it makes me kind of teary that it is over soon. However, I am looking forward for some weeks of quality time with both girls and am looking forward to her new Kindergarten, I feel confident that she will love it there.
Grateful for renewed joy in reading the Bible. As a mother I find it sometimes hard to consistently stick with my self-care habits but right now I manage to find some time to sit down and meditate on God’s word most days and it’s so good for my soul.
Hoping to post a bit more during August. I miss this space and connecting with all of you who read and get in touch. It’s so special to me.
What have you been up to lately?
