Wednesday // A week in my life 2025

5 min read

In case you missed it, I am currently documenting a week in my life along with Ali Edwards and her community. Here are my posts for Monday and Tuesday.

Here’s Wednesday!

My exhaustion seemed to peek on Wednesday morning. If I had a “normal” job I would have called in sick and stayed in bed all day. However, I don’t and I am responsible for two precious, amazing children. So, I got up and did all the morning things.

I managed to get a moment while the girls played in the living room of drinking some coffee and reading a few verses in the Bible. Currently, I’m very slowly making my way through the gospel of Mark.

Then, L and I dropped SJ off at Kindergarten. My mum came by and kindly helped me with a few bits around the flat. The word “helped” might give the wrong idea – mostly she was doing things while I lethargically watched, feeling mostly unable to move.

L and I had some breakfast, and I put some under eye serum on in the hopes of it reciving me a bit. We played, I did some laundry and soon enough it was nap time. I am so grateful that she is a good napper. I had almost two hours of lying on the sofa. I continued listening to “The Latecomer” (so good!) for a bit and then grabbed my Summer Playbook, which is a planning tool created by the wonderful Kendra Adachie. I worked through some of the questions which actually helped me feel better. I also wrote my Tuesday blog post and this small creative activity gave me another little boost.

I’m grateful that I learned early in my life that sometimes it’s good to push through. When I am tired and feeling down my instinct is to drown it out. Watch TV or hide in a book. But often in these moments doing something and acknowledging where I am at helps me to move through those feelings much more.

Then L woke up and we had some wonderful cuddles on the sofa before picking up SJ.

We hadn’t planned to come back home after Kindergarten but SJs rain boots were completely soaked in mud (inside and out) so we stopped off at home to get some dry footwear for her.

We then went to DM, which is a drug store chain in Germany. We printed off a few photos for a friendship album SJ got given by one of her kindergarten friends and picked up a click and collect order.

Then we headed to some good friends of ours for a playdate. Like it had all week it was raining, so we spent the afternoon inside. SJ had a major meltdown at one point but we managed to deal with it. All in all, we had a really lovely time!

Our friends have the coolest basement

Back home we had some potato soup I had pulled out of the freezer and FaceTimed Edd while we ate. Then SJ and I played hair dressers which is one of my favourite things to play, she also has gotten a lot better at not pulling out too much of my hair, ha!

Once the girls were asleep Edd and I talked on the phone for two hours and then I headed to bed myself.

This day somehow very accurately depicted my life. Moments of utter exhaustion followed by deep connection and joy. Life isn’t easy but I am so grateful for it all.
