Hello, hello! Right now, I am overflowing with creative ideas and energy and feel so motivated to finish some works in progress. It’s been great! I am not entirely sure where this burst has come from, but I think some of the brain fog of pregnancy and looking after a baby is slowly lifting.
As mentioned before, I am super keen to embark on another 100 day project, but haven’t fully decided what to do. I want to ride this wave of creative inspiration and challenge myself a bit but not overwhelm myself. We shall see what I come up with!
Anyhow, here are all the things I have been working on this last month!
Finished objects
The Hinterland dress
I finished my second Hinterland dress!
I was putting off sewing the button plackets because button holes is normally where my love for sewing ends. However, they turned out absolutely fine on the first try! What a delight! I love the colour and am pretty happy with the finished result overall. It’s not perfectly sewn but I did my best and am improving.
However, it turned out a bit too big. This might be due to the fact that I started making this back in April, when I was only about two months postpartum. Tailoring clothes isn’t one of my skills yet but luckily my mum is great at it, so she is going to help me to take it in a little. Hopefully we’ll find time before spring arrives – I can’t wait for warmer weather and an occasion to wear this beautiful dress!

Little Tulip Jumper
I finished knitting yesterday and weaved in all the ends today after a final try on. The jumper turned out so cute and it was such a pleasure to knit. The best thing was that SJ absolutely loved it and immediately put it on (normally she hates getting changed or trying things on). The colour suits her super well and I am so happy with the result.

Works in progress
Crochet wall hangings
I took a class on a crafting website about intarsia crochet and created two small designs that I want to hang on our bedroom wall.
They are nearly complete, I just want to attach them to a wooden rod and add some tassels. I think it will look super cool!

Copenhagen cardigan
I have written about this project before so won’t say more than that I am on the last ball of yarn now – very nearly finished!!

The “Elise Quilt”
A couple of years ago I purchased a class by Elise Blaha Cripe that teaches the basics of quilting. (She unfortunately retired all her online courses, so it is no longer available.) The final class project is the “Ombre quilt” but the colours I chose don’t quite fit this name, so I’m calling it the “Elise quilt”.
I made the quilt top back when we lived in Berlin, so about 4 or 5 years ago now…! I had a stab at quilting it but it went wrong so it was in my drawer for a long while.
Lately I’ve seen so many amazing quilting and patchwork projects and really wanted to start a project. However, I decided to be sensible and finish this one first! And it has been really fun actually. I bought some spray glue, which has made the process of basting and quilting a lot easier. However, my quilt lines are still rather wonky and imperfect (I really need to get better at slowing myself down when I am sewing). Despite it being a bit messy I am quite excited about how it is turning out!

Playing around with free motion quilting
I took a class on Craftsy about free motion quilting and I feel like I discovered a whole new world of sewing with so much room for creativity!
I used some scraps to play around. It is much harder than it looked in the video but I loved the process and also the result!
Hopefully I can make some small accessories using some free motion techniques in the coming weeks.

That’s all for this month!
We will see how much I get to make during February. We’ve got a lot of visitors plus we are spending some time in the UK. Hopefully there will be lots of time to create beautiful things anyway – it is giving me so much joy!
