I‘m not gonna lie, March has not been the best month. The girls have had every virus going round and Edd and I also got sick. Plus, there is an ongoing quite stressful situation we‘re currently facing and it’s hard and draining. And then all the rest of normal life – tantrums and bills and and sleepless nights.
When you’re in the middle of the storm it’s easy to forget all the good stuff – small moments of joy, little accomplishments, good music, food, people and so forth.
So, here we are. I say this often: life is good but hard. And here are a bunch of things we and I got up to lately.
Lately, I have been…
Eating pretzels with butter. It’s SJs favourite thing to get from the bakery and so it’s a common snack/lunch when we’re on the go.
Drinking coffee, fennel tea and alcohol free beer.
Wearing fewer layers. Spring is finally here and the weather is starting to warm up and it’s the best.
Watching talks and interviews by and with Tyler Staton on YouTube.
Working on my 100 Day Project! So far it’s going okay. I mean, I set the bar pretty low, but I am happy with all the things I created so far.
Reading “The Practice of the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence.
Just finished “Onyx Storm” by Rebecca Yarros and “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. Both books completely had me captivated and now I feel a bit lost without them!
Baking chocolate chip cookies.
Cooking too many boring recipes (mash potatoes or pasta). Oh the joy of feeding toddlers.
Sewing on my Orbit bag which I am really enjoying!
Knitting the Nellike blanket and planning my next cast ons! Maybe I will make a cardigan for SJ, a jumper for myself or start a sock project… we shall see!
Celebrating Edd’s birthday! He turned 35 this month. With all that we have going on right now we didn’t throw a big party or anything but we had a lovely day at the zoo as a family and a fancy dinner just the two of us.
Trying to follow a new cleaning schedule. Rather than having one day to clean everything I now focus on one or two rooms on each day of the week. So far it’s going ok!
Grateful for my daughters. Parenting isn’t always easy but there is not one day where I don’t have a moment of utter gratitude that I get to be their mother.
Feeling a bit anxious and lonely these days. Being alone with sick kids can be isolating. Also, my tendency when going through hard stuff is to isolate myself even more. I am working on that aspect but it’s been hard to even find the time to have a proper conversation with someone with both kids around so much.
Praying for God to provide new doors to walk through while we can continue to grow roots where we are.
Excited about warmer weather and more time outside and the fact that Edd is coming home on Saturday. I miss him loads.
Fallen off the bandwagon with habit tracking after having had a really good go at it in February. Seeing that I found it so beneficial then I shall try again in April!
Delighted by music. With audiobooks and podcasts I somehow have fallen out of the habit of listening to music over the last few years. This last month I discovered some songs by Forrest Frank that I absolutely love and they make me so happy. Especially this one.
Debating whether I might participate in Me Made May this year. I’m already posting almost daily updates about my 100 Day Project and while I enjoy taking outfit photos it’s an extra thing to do… hmm. We shall see!
Lately, SJ…
Is still obsessed with drawing. She sits down on her crafts table multiple times a day to “do some work”. I love that she is so creative.
Always wants to help me in the kitchen. She has become very good at cracking eggs and operating the mixer. Also, she did the hoovering the other day. Winning!
Discovered a new TV series she enjoyed. For the last year she refused anything that wasn’t Peppa Pig but suddenly all she wants to watch is Coocmelon.
Is happiest when we spend time outside. We have the most relaxed times together when we’re at the playground. Her favourite activity there is still the swings.

Lately, Lulu…
Is walking everywhere now!
Also climbs up everything. It’s impressive but also slightly terrifying.
Loves books, being on the swings and colouring with her sister.
Always starts dancing as soon as she hears any music.
