I’m a bit behind with sharing updates but still wanted to document what I did on days 31 – 40. I am really enjoying this project! So often I think – I am really doing it!
In this season of life I am very often tired and it is tempting to just grab my phone and scroll once the girls are in bed. Because of this project I instead knit, sew, write… and it is so much more life-giving!
So here’s what I did on days 31 – 40
Day 31: Noticing and capturing beauty
I had a tough parenting day and was completely exhausted. But I did stop on my bike a few times to photograph some blooming trees.
Some days there is time and energy for an hour of sewing, other days my capacity only allows for one photo. It all counts!

Day 32: Handlettering
After feeling overwhelmed and ill equipped in my parenting efforts I found comfort in this Bible verse: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
I am very out of practice with hand-lettering but I had a lot of fun, bringing this verse onto paper!

Day 33 + 37: Blogging
I wrote two blog posts – my recap of days 21 – 30 and a little Life Update. Writing always makes me feel so good. It orders the chaos in my head and just gives me so much joy!
Day 34: A little worship session
After some days of feeling rather discouraged I spent my evening playing my guitar and singing songs about Jesus. There is something about reminding myself of God’s goodness through song, that gets to my heart quicker than in any other way.
I recorded one of the songs I sang – “Highlands” by Hillsong United which had been stuck in my head all week long. Listen here.
Days 35, 36 + 39: Knitting
My Nellike blanket will probably show up again and again – it’s a lot of knitting! I wonder if I will complete it during the remainder of this project.
However, a lot of my “knitting time” this week was actually spent untangling yarn. Ugh, so annoying. But I managed to get all the 538 knots out and can actually get back to knitting again now!
It’s lovely to work on, mostly just knit stitches with a few increases and decreases. Mindless, yet fun! Also – I made a little reel – in case you’re interested in watching me knit! Haha.

Day 38: Punch needle
I got a punch needle kit last summer to try out this new-to-me craft. It’s so much fun! On day 38 I created this two hoops and I adore how they turned out!

Day 40: Spine poetry
The inspiration for this 100 Day Project came from a book by Ashlee Gadd with the title: “Create Anyway – The Joy of Pursuing Creativity in the Margins of Motherhood”. So far, I have only read the introduction and the first two chapters but I am already so encouraged by it.
Each chapter comes with a creative exercise and one of them involved pulling a bunch of books from your shelf and to use their titles to create poems. I love books and poetry so I adored this task! It was really fun.
Here’s what I came up with:
The Life You never expected
Here I am,
but Beautiful World, where are you?
We’re anxious people, tired of being tired,
but still Fighting Forward,
Talking as fast as we can,
Before the coffee gets cold.

This is not a drill,
so, don’t waste your life,
but Thrive!
and (of course) Create Anyway.

The power of anxious people who are
Surprised by Hope
Humankind -
What an absolutely remarkable thing!
