Reading List – January 2025

2 min read

Despite January being 100 days long I didn’t read that much. Edd was home for most of the month (hurray for cancelled flights!) which meant less alone time and less reading. I am not mad about it though! We hung out a lot and thoroughly enjoyed watching The Traitors together. I have also done quite a bit of sewing which has been lovely and there are only so many hours in the day!

I did read (or rather listen to) three books though. All of which I enjoyed a lot!

What I read in January 2025

“Carve the Mark” by Veronica Roth

This was our first book club pick of the year. I read the “Divergent” series by Roth so was excited for this one. The story drew me in immediately and surprised me in how it turned out. I really enjoyed the character development and the very realistic descriptions of the relationships between people with all their struggles. A solid four stars!

“The Fates Divide” by Veronica Roth

After enjoying “Carve the Mark” so much I immediately picked up the sequel. It was just as good if not better than the first one. I enjoyed that the solutions to the big problems the characters faced were a bit messy and difficult. Especially the descriptions of Akos and how he goes beyond his limits to reach his goal were so good.

“I haven’t been entirely honest with you” by Miranda Hart

This was so so good. The beloved comedy actress Miranda tells the story of her chronic illness, the struggle towards a diagnosis and her path to getting better. It is packed full of wisdom and scientific facts on the mind body connection and written in such a kind, approachable way. I listened to the audio version which was read by Miranda herself. It was delightful to listen to her voice but I am planning on getting a paper copy to highlight some sections and go back to some of the mind-blowing insights she shares. Five stars.

That was all!

I am hoping to read a bit more in the coming weeks to not completely fall behind on my goal of reading 50 books this year!

Have you read anything good lately? I would love to hear about it!
