I’ve been inspired by my hero Kendra Adachi (also known as the Lazy Genius) to make a list of all the things that are saving my life right now.
“Saving my life” might sound quite dramatic. But often the things that save our lives day by day are kind of small. The stuff that brings joy, the gadgets and practices that make life that little bit easier, the things that make me feel like myself.
Also, notice the “right now” in the title. Certain things are so helpful in one season but no longer serve us a few months or years down the road. Which is completely fine! It’s all about noticing the good that is here right now and to be grateful for it.
So, here’s what’s saving my life right now!
Rhythms for my week
In this season of being a stay at home mom most of the time with a little bit of freelancing and volunteering thrown in, you could say that I am pretty much my own boss. No one tells me what to do when. I manage my time and my tasks on my own. Which, to be honest, I love. However, sometimes it’s overwhelming if each day feels like a blank piece of paper.
Will I do the cleaning today? Do some meal prepping? Or take the kids on a trip? Should I dedicate the morning to filing my taxes or do I prioritise preparing for leading kids work the following Sunday?
Having to make these decisions every single day is rather tiring. Since the beginning of the year I have had a focus for each day of the week which has been super helpful in avoiding decision fatigue and to space out all my have-tos (like housework, grocery shopping, work and admin) and hope-tos (like exercise, seeing friends and making time for creative endeavours).
Of course, there are times when I have to pivot. Kids get sick or I do or other unforeseen events arise. However, having loose rhythms for work and rest are such a helpful starting point for me when planning my week.
Knitting
You probably are aware of the fact that I love knitting. At the moment I need for at least a few minutes almost everyday. It calms my mind and is so incredibly satisfying to me. I love that I am able to use my hands to create something beautiful.

Lectio 365 App
Lectio 365 is a devotional app developed by Pete Greig and the 24/7 Prayer Movement. It offers a guided prayer for morning, midday and night designed to help you pause in the presence of God.
Recently, I’ve been listening to the daily nighttime prayer while waiting for the girls to fall asleep each night. Reflecting on the day – the things I am grateful for, the haed moments and my own mistakes in the light of God’s unfailing love for me has been so good for my soul.
Camomile Vanilla Tea
Since I had food poisoning last week my stomach has been a bit sensitive. Coffee first thing in the morning does not make me feel good so I have been drinking camomile vanilla tea by Pukka. It’s so delicious and fresh and warming.
There’s also something really nice about herbal tea, it feels like it would be the way you’d start your day on a wellness retreat. I don’t know if tea will win out over coffee long term but right now I enjoy it a lot.
My electric bike
I have talked about this before but one of the best investments were our bike trailer and electric bike. It means I can do the nursery run by bike, cycle to the shops and to do most errands.
Cycling is one of my favourite activities. I am slower than in a car, so I can take in my neighbourhood in more detail. It’s faster than walking meaning I can go further.
I move my body and don’t produce a lot less CO2 than a car. The girls do argue sometimes in the trailer as it isn’t lots of space in there but they mostly enjoy it. I love cycling while listening to their singing or when they point out birds or interesting things they spot.

Craft inspiration
Since my social media break last summer I haven’t spend a lot of time on Instagram or Facebook. However, I recently rediscovered Pinterest and it’s actually been rather delightful! I gathered so many ideas for my creative practice and my 100 Day Project in particular. I have also really enjoyed reading my various craft books and browsing through them for inspiration.
These days I sometimes lie awake at night because I feel so excited by all the things I could make. While insomnia isn’t fun, I do love times like these where I am brimming with inspiration, ideas and motivation. And I am grateful for the sources that feed this state of mind!
My office
In our flat there is a tidy room behind our kitchen with big windows overlooking the garden behind the house. It just about fits a desk and a chair and so it has become my office. It’s one of my favourite places in our home.
Recently, Edd and I dedicated some time to declutter this space a bit and since then I have so enjoyed spending time in there. Whether to read my Bible, work, write for my blog or just to sit for a minute and enjoy a the view. It’s such a peaceful little nook that brings me so much joy!

Blogging
Speaking of writing – another thing that has brought me joy is this little corner of the internet! My goal for 2026 has been to post once a week. Thus far, I even managed to publish a little something twice a week! We’re only six weeks into the year so who knows if I manage to keep this up.
For now, prioritising writing and capturing my life and my thoughts is one of my favourite routines. It makes me feel so connected to myself and to others at the same time. I am also super grateful for all of you who read along! Thank you for being here.
What small things are giving you joy right now? I’d love to hear about them!
