Monday
Both children are back in kindergarden and nursery today! I spent the morning doing a big grocery shop together with my mum. Back home I did laundry, aired out our flat and tidied up. During my lunch I read more “Cleopatra and Frankenstein” which is just so so good. Then, I wanted to pick up the girls but my bike had a flat which was super annoying. I tried to put the bike in the car to drop it off for repair but it didn’t fit with the car seats and I got very frustrated and was also running pretty late. At SJs kindergarden I was telling one of the dad’s about this annoyance and he spontaneously offered to come by to fix my bike! I am truly amazed at how nice some people are. It inspires me to be more generous with my time and resources.
We spent the afternoon at the playground with some friends. It was so nice to be in the sun and chat and watch the kids play very contentedly.
Once we were back home, Edd bathed the girls while I prepared some dinner. After bedtime I had my online book club. I’ve been a bit in a reading slump lately but hearing about what others are reading always makes me excited to give more time to this beautiful hobby.

Tuesday
Tuesday was such a good day. Edd did the nursery run and I had time to read my Bible and have a shower before getting on a bus into Basel. I met a good friend from church for coffee and pastries and we sat and chatted for ages and could have gone on for even longer. Friendship is such a precious thing.
In the afternoon one of SJs friends came to our house for a playdate. All three girls were pretty occupied most of the time and played so nicely together. However, I trusted the calmness a bit too much and folded some laundry in our bedroom. When I came out after a few minutes I found L on the sofa taking apart one of our cushions that is filled with tiny styrofoam beads. They were everywhere! She was extremely happy playing with them. At first I tried to fill them back into the cushions but after 30 minutes and no visible progress I decided to get the hoover out. Ha! Life with kids never gets boring…
Then my friend Alex came by to fix my bike. The kids found it extremely interesting. Unfortunately it turned out to not be as straightforward to fix as we initally thought so he ended up taking my bike wheel home with him to have a proper look without as much distraction around.
We then had dinner, Edd and I hung out and went to bed early as Edd had a super early flight the next day. SJ woke up a lot during the night and it turned out she had a fever. So, I got very little sleep but lots of cuddles from my girl. Not the worst, I guess!

Wednesday
Instead of going for a swim, meeting my mum for some sewing and lunch I spent the morning with SJ, watching TV, playing and cuddling. We walked to nursery to pick up L. This morning, I charged my fitbit and put it on after not having worn it for almost a year. I have been inspired to be more intentional about walking more and having a step counter is very motivating to me!
On our way home we stopped off at the library to get some books and Tonies. We spent the afternoon reading and listening to stories and the girls went to bed very early.

Thursday
Despite another bad night, SJ felt a lot better in the morning. I still kept her at home to rest. We did laundry together, SJ listened to a lot of stories and we walked to Aldi to buy some plants. In the afternoon she went to a friend’s birthday party and I took L to her dance lesson. Afterwards we walked to the playground. (Wearing a step counter plus having a flat tyre was very conducive to doing lots of walking this week!) From there, we picked up SJ and then made pancakes for dinner.

Friday
SJ seemed mostly fine this morning but asked if she could stay home another day as she was pretty tired. So we had another morning together at home which was quite nice. She crafted her own laptop, I prepped some lunch and dinner and we hung up the laundry outside. Then Edd came back from England which was very exciting for us all! Also, my bike is fully fixed now and I am very happy.
Edd and SJ hung out while I picked up L from nursery (on foot of course, I gotta get those steps in after all!) I then took the girls to their gym class which was a great time as always. One of my best friends takes her two girls to the same class and we just love having this little weekly catch up.
Once back home I got changed and then headed to my own workout class. It was quite intense! But such a good start to the weekend. It was so lovely to shower, put on my pyjamas and eat dinner with Edd while watching Interstellar. What a movie! We didn’t quite get to finish it as the girls were waking up (L started coughing now….). Oh dear.

Saturday
I headed out fairly early for a Saturday as my friend and I were hosting a brunch at church for the people on the kid’s ministry team. We had a really good morning together and such good food!
Sadly, it was raining lots today and the girls were both a bit on edge. It turned out, L now had a temperature again. Ugh. We still got to see my brother and nephews for a bit which was a very nice and very needed change of scenery!
In the evening Edd and I finished watching Interstellar and then showed each other funny reels for about an hour. I am normally not a big fan of shortform content but there are some hilarious little videos out there, I laughed so much.

Sunday
L had a proper fever this morning, Edd was feeling a bit under the weather too and SJ was kind of exhausted still as well. So we all stayed home from church. I went on a walk with L, SJ built a massive train track and Edd tidied the flat and ironed. We had sandwich toast for dinner. Nothing too exciting. I think we’re all a bit exhausted. I was so excited to have a moring to myself tomorrow but it’s looking like L will be home with me. I cannot wait for summer!!

I love reading your little updates of family life! It is a balm to our family life in London which is far more boring and office work driven – I know sickness and the day to day can get to you sometimes, but you’re doing an amazing job in all the ways you show up every day :-). If you’re ever London bound, you’d be very welcome to visit us for a coffee and a playdate (our boys are a little older at 7 and 4, but they love making friends).
Oh thank you! We would love that – Edd works in London now and we might travel over with him sometime and a playdate while he is at work would be perfect ❤️
Sending lots of love to London!!
