Weekly Journal 12/01 – 18/01/26
Monday
Edd left super early this morning while we were still asleep. I tried to get up before the girls but they have some sort of radar for when I get out of bed and followed very soon… I managed to do a bit of journaling though which was nice!
After dropping off the girls I went for a run! It feels like a million years since I last ran and I miss it a lot. I did a very short, very slow run – I want to build my muscles back up slowly and avoid further injuries. I felt very happy that I managed to just do it despite the cold.
The rest of the morning was spent doing work and a few chores.
I took the girls swimming in the afternoon and it was really fun! They were very tired afterwards and fell asleep very quickly at bedtime, which is always a win. I was exhausted as well so headed to bed early but then couldn’t fall asleep for ages. So, I sat up listening to my audiobook (The Secret Diary of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella – I have mixed feelings about it!) and knitted.

Tuesday
Did my standard Tuesday routine and went grocery shopping first thing, then worked. My parents invited me over for lunch – we had a lovely pasta dish and it was nice to not have to cook and to eat in company.
In the afternoon SJ had a friend over for a playdate and they were so adorable together. They kept apologising to each other for really small things and then said “oh do not worry, these things can happen!” or said “oh thank you, how kind” when the other one handed them a pen. So sweet.
When Edd is away I spend every evening pretty much the same – I tidy the kitchen, put the girls to bed and the knit and listen to an audiobook or a podcast. Very cozy! I finished the Sophie Kinsella book. I will probably share a review at the end of the month.

Wednesday
I dropped the girls off at nursery and Kindergarten and then went for a swim. Such a good way to start the day – I love the feeling of having moved and being freshly showered.
After swimming I did some laundry and then my dad and I met up to practice some songs together, which was really fun.
Then I wrote a blog post and made a healthy lunch before picking up the girls. A very productive and fun morning!
The weather was lovely so we cycled to the playground. L is getting so good on her scooter. I sometimes find it hard to believe that she isn’t even two years old and can already do so much stuff. She rode almost the entire way home.

Thursday
I went for another run today! I am feeling so proud of myself. Again, it was not fast nor far, but I ran! And I wasn’t in pain afterwards. I am very happy.
After my run I had a kids work meeting over zoom then did some housework. We were back at the playground in the afternoon but this time with SJs friend which made it a lot more fun. However, L fell off the swing and had a nosebleed. But hardy as she is she continued playing pretty much immediately.
In the evening I finished knitting my Hiedra Headband – my first finished knitting project of 2026! I really love how it turned out.
Edd got back late in the evening – it’s so nice to have him home!

Friday
I attended an early morning online prayer meeting from our church this morning. Such a good way to start the day! After a delicious breakfast I did some work and folded some laundry. Then I cycled to a nearby town to pick up my new glasses. I also got a new pair of prescription sun glasses and am rather happy with both. Afterwards I visited a good friend in hospital for a while and then cycled back.
Just in time for the girls gym class. We had a lot of fun. From there we headed to a supermarket to pick up a few bits and then went home to have dinner.
Edd and I watched the next episodes of “The Traitors” – such a good show! We’ll continue tomorrow and I can’t wait to find out who gets banished and murdered next. Haha!

Saturday
The girls woke up super early (L and I got out of bed just after 6). We enjoyed a very slow morning making espresso and toast, reading books and watching a bit of TV while I knitted and Edd slept.
Then, my parents, my nephews the girls and I visited a nearby castle. It was really fun to explore and spend some time outdoors.
In the afternoon SJ played a bit longer at my parents house, I did some prep for kids work and Edd and L played and looked at books.
I made a curry for dinner and we watched more of “The Traitors” while I worked on my Sailor Swift Top. I completely unravelled it earlier in the week and this morning I cast on a smaller size. Hopefully it will fit better now.

Sunday
We had a rather relaxed Sunday today! We were at church this morning, I was in with the kids and we had a lovely time.
The afternoon was very slow, I did a lot of knitting, watched a talk by Christine Caine and YouTube videos of people talking about their knitting. Ha, my life is so exciting!
Then we pottered around the flat and built things with magna tiles. Edd did some colouring with the girls while I folded some laundry and then cooked a lentil bolognaise for dinner. After eating we did our usual routine of doing silly dances in the kitchen before getting the girls ready for bed.
In the evening we watched more Traitors of course. It got very intense! I love British TV.
