We had a lovely week. Edd was off from work still and it was so nice to enjoy some time as a family. I have really enjoyed spending the Christmas holidays at home, having lazy days, playing lots and meeting up with friends and family.
Here are some highlights from last week:
- On Monday we received a belated Christmas present in the post that occupied us all day long! I loved building the magna tile car track and marble run and the girls enjoyed playing with it very much!
- We also made alcohol free punch and had Christmas cookies and it was a perfect cozy day at home.
- On Tuesday we had pancakes for breakfast. What a treat!
- Later, my dad and I took the girls to the park. It was cold but sunny and just a lovely day. SJ practiced rollerblading and L went around with her scooter and then we played on the swing and slide until we got too cold.
- While we were out Edd cleaned the flat and it was very nice to come home to!

- On Wednesday it was New Year’s Eve. Edd and SJ visited a friend in the afternoon. I chilled while L napped and then we played in the garden for a bit.
- We had the loveliest time celebrating New Year’s Eve as a family. We had a delicious dinner and then put all our mattresses in the living room for a family sleepover. I had one last present for the family – a digital frame with lots of photos from last year. We looked at the pictures together and then burned some sparklers on our balcony. Once the girls were asleep Edd and I drank cocktails in the kitchen and just chatted until midnight. Such a nice time!

- The first of January is one of my favourite days ever. I know that it is just a day but I just love this feeling of a new beginning and new possibilities!
- We had croissants for breakfast, played games and went to the playground in the afternoon with some friends. They came back to ours for some dinner afterwards and it was really nice hanging out.
- In the evening Edd and I watched the final episode of Stranger Things. It wasn’t quite as I had expected but I am content with the ending to this fantastic show.

- Friday was such a good day! After a relaxing morning at home we had a BBQ with some good friends and then played at their house for a bit. In the evening Edd and I were invited for dinner at our good friends house. We had cocktails and a delicious dinner and desert and really interesting conversations and felt thoroughly spoiled!
- On Saturday I cycled to a town nearby to get some new glasses. It was a bit icy but such a beautiful bike ride nonetheless!
- After picking out glasses I visited a friend in hospital and it was so nice to see her and catch up.
- In the afternoon we were invited at my mum’s house for a traditional Northern German dinner – potatoes, kale and these special sausages and ham. It was very delicious! And desert food as jelly which was enjoyed very much by both adults and children!

- On Sunday Edd woke up feeling very ill so I took the girls to church on my own. It was such an inspiring service. We had a bring and share lunch afterwards and it was so nice to enjoy good food and community.
- Once we were back home we tidied away all of our Christmas decorations and Edd and I tidied and cleaned my office. I even washed the windows! It was very satisfying.
- In the evening I chilled in my newly tidy space and did some knitting.

It was such a good week! I am feeling so grateful! However, there hasn’t been lots of time to do blogging, meaning I am a bit behind on this challenge, I am determined to finish, even if it takes me a bit longer though! I hope you don‘t mind!
