As you might have read in my post last week, I decided to dive into some creative memory keeping this year. I came across Project Life and was instantly intrigued. I am two weeks into this project and really love it. Below my spread for week 2.
7th – 13th of January
The second week of the year was our first week back at work after being off for Christmas and New Year’s. I loved the holidays but it was great to get back into a regular routine. I always feel my best if I eat, sleep and exercise in
Project back to a routine
In the top left, I again added the date – I used some wrapping paper and brown paper to create this card and love how it turned out. Below a card from the Bohemian value kit and a photo I shot during one of my morning yoga practices.
Next to the date card a bit more of my current morning routine and a picture of some shoots coming through in our garden. A little reminder that spring is not too far off! I used some pretty gritted paper I saved from a magazine and added some journaling. Next a failed Instax photo I took just before going on a run. Even though it didn’t turn out great, it still captured the moment – which is what this is all about! I have so much fun taking these instant photos in this project is such a great way of
I saved my ticket from when Edd and I went to see “Mary Poppins Returns”. Which, if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you go and watch! It’s such a feel-good movie.
Everyday life
On the second half of the spread, I added a picture of what my desk is looking like at the moment. I spend a lot of time on there these days working on various projects. It hence felt it very fitting to include a snippet of my work environment. Then a shot of me knitting and wearing my brand new Lancaster University Hoodie Edd bought for me. During the week I listened to a pretty amazing preach on habits and pulled this quote from it. (The way I designed it is not my idea – I got inspired by Elise Joy). I might try and include a quote or Bible verse every week.
Then some more running pictures. I love this photo of Edd being excited about his new tie. I then included some bullets of what had happened that week.
Finally, a few more snippets from our weekend a little bit of journaling.
I also finished my cover page for my Project Life album:
For the first page of the album, I took this print from my 2018 Get To Work Book. My feeling for 2019 is that it will be pretty adventurous and the concept of expanding my comfort zone seemed spot on. I added a new-years card my mum had sent me. Then some pictures that signified the new year for me, another Get To Work Book print and then a big photo of me and Edd. I am really excited for another year together. Lastly, I lettered the word ‘Peace’, which is my word for 2019.
Memory keeping is my new favourite thing
I really love this project. Just yesterday we talked about a trip we went on about two years ago and my memory of it is basically non-existent. I would have loved to grab an album like this one off the shelf and look at some pictures or receipts that tell me which books and how many coffees we bought. I like preserving the everyday, mundane, day-to-day realities of our life. And it makes me notice how often, the day to day is not all that mundane. There are so many precious moments each week. Capturing them is such a lovely expression of gratitude.
