Gardening

Our garden in March

4 min read

One of the things I wanted to write about during this 100 Day Project was gardening! I am very much a beginner in this area. In order to not repeat all my mistakes I am intending to use this space to document my gardening experiments. So, here’s my March garden journal. In case you are interested, you find everything I did and planted in the garden in my February garden update.

To be honest, there is not very much to share! As I have previously mentioned March did not quite go as I had hoped. It was very busy, we got ill and the weather was quite a mixed bag. All that meant that I didn’t spend as much time outside as I had hoped.

Seeds become plants

Despite not doing all that much, a lot still happened! My mum and I had planted a couple of different seeds in February and almost all of them started to grow! It’s absolutely fascinating to me that you put this little speck that could be mistaken for dirt into some soil, water it and some days or weeks later a little plant emerges. Life is such a miracle.

Out of everything I planted the lettuce grew the fastest. Then the celeriac and tomato seeds also produced little seedlings. I already believed the chili and the peppers to be dead but after quite some time they also showed some signs of life! I am very pleased!

Repotting seedlings

We had to repot the lettuce quite soon as it was getting pretty big! I really should now put them into the ground in the garden. I am hoping to find some time this weekend.

A little while later the tomatoes also got bigger pots. I am excited for when they can all come out of their pots and go into the garden!

Our garden in March: Bloomnig bulbs!

I put a couple of different bulbs into a big planter by our front door and they grew loads this month. It’s a bit of a crazy mix right now but I think for springtime it is fun to have this much colour!

Playing outside

Most of the time I play in the garden with SJ when I need to hang up washing. We have a little sandpit and a place to hang her swing. This month I also bought some chalk for her to draw with. I had forgotten how messy chalk is… haha. But I also had lots of fun with it already.

And that is all I have to report about our garden in march! I am hoping to get a few more seeds planted and to get the lettuce and maybe the tomatoes into the ground during April. We shall see!
