Earlier this week I read some of my old “Life Lately” posts and it was so precious to be able to go back and remember all the small things that made life special in that moment.
Right now we’re in England, seeing some family and friends and helping some friends with a church youth weekend. Even though travelling with kids has its stressful moments, I love making some memories together as a family. Also, getting out of our normal routines for a few days always does me a world of good.
So, without further ado, here’s a bit of what life has looked like lately.
Lately, I have been…
Eating breakfast at McDonalds. Whenever we’re in England we get “sandwichies”, which is what SJ calls sausage egg McMuffins. We don’t eat fast food normally, so this is a special UK treat!
Drinking tea! No surprise here, I am in England after all. It’s funny though, when we’re in Germany I almost never drink black tea with milk, I only have it here. Another special UK treat, I guess!
Reading “Buckeye” by Patrick Ryan. I have seen it everywhere lately so I got it on Libby (an online library service). I have only started but am really enjoying it so far. I am also listening to the “Castle Keepers” by Aimie K. Runyan, which is our current book club book.
Waiting for the fifth season of Stranger Things! Edd and I have just finished re-watching the first four seasons and I loved them just as much as when we first saw them. I think it might be my favourite TV show of all time.
Listening to “Running up that hill” – of course!
Wearing boyfriend jeans, my purple trainers, a tucked in shirts and cardigan. Plus a very warm scarf. It’s so cold here!
Knitting on a Hiedra headband (a pattern by Fiber Tales). I made the Hiedra mittens two years ago and am excited to have a matching headband. I have also made a lot of progress knitting on the Sailor Swift top but I think it is turning out too big. I need to decide if I can somehow do less increases for the armholes or if I need to start over in a smaller size…
Loving my shorter hair! I got it cut about two weeks ago and I think it’s my favourite haircut ever.
Enjoying making more music lately. My dad and I have been meeting up weekly to practice new songs together and I have played a bit more guitar lately, especially in preparation for this weekend, as I’ll be leading worship. I forgot how much joy it brings me to play and sing!
Sewing on a long-sleeve top. Last month I went to a sewing workshop which was so helpful where I started making this top. So far I haven’t had the time to finish it, but it’s very close to being done! Hopefully I will find some time next week when we’re back home.
So happy to have a bike again! In case you missed it – my eBike got stolen on Halloween, which was kind of devastating. Luckily we had insurance for the bike and on Tuesday I was able to pick up our new bike! Cycling makes me so happy.
Exercising not too much otherwise – I am swimming once a week and trying to do yoga at home 2-3 times, but I am still building this habit. My back and hips have been so tight lately, I really want to stretch and move my body more.
Struggling with not getting enough sleep these days. L is waking up a lot during the night and is normally awake and ready for the day by 5 am. I know that the answer is to go to bed earlier but finding it hard to cut my me-time short in the evenings. It’s all a season though, right?!
Grateful to be meeting my youngest nephew for the first time today! And for SJ and L who are the most fun, for Edd and our life, the mundane and the adventures. It’s not all easy but I am so glad I get to share my life with these people.
What have you been up to lately?
