Life Lately – May 2023

3 min read

May 2023 around here has been very rainy so far. The first two weeks of the month Edd was in the UK for work while SJ and I continued life at home. It has been a good month so far. I managed to make time for reading and creative projects and been loving seeing the lilacs in bloom.

Here’s a bit more of what I have been up to:

Lately, I have been…

Eating pretzel rolls, vegan yogurt and strawberries. And yesterday I made a delicious bean chili.

Drinking coffee. And water. (So exciting, I know!)

Wearing more of my handmade clothing. I am not actively participating in Me Made May, but as a lot of my summer tops are sewn by me, I have been wearing more handmade clothes and it never fails to make me happy.

Reading “A prayer for Owen Meany” by John Irving. It’s our current book club read. I am only about 30 pages in and am hoping I will manage to read the remaining 600 or so until we meet in early June. Also, I just finished “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” by Gabrielle Zevin and it might be my favourite book of 2023 so far.

Listening to the audiobook version of “You Could Make This Place Beautiful” by Maggie Smith and enjoying it so much.

Grateful for my life. I feel so lucky to live in this beautiful flat, in this wonderful location, right by my family. I have a great husband and a wonderful daughter. Sometimes I find it hard to believe so many of my dreams really came true.

Excited about writing. Not every day, of course. But I love this practice of sitting and typing each and every day so much.

Looking forward to traveling to England at the end of the month! I cannot wait. It’s over a year since I have been to Lancaster, which is one of my favourite places on earth and I am so thrilled we get to visit soon and see some very good friends.

Enjoying the rain. I might be the only one, but as a hayfever sufferer it is defintely a blessing for me.

Proud but also ashamed of our fridge. It is very nice and clean now, because I cleaned it today. But it was rather gross. This is where we keep our food! Note to self to clean it more often in the future…

Knitting nothing properly right now. I am almost certain that I don’t have enough yarn to finish the little Raglan jumper I have been making, which is kind of demotivating. However, I am planning to swatch for a jumper for myself today and am quite excited for it.

Sewing the Jackson Tee. Just finished it yesterday! I want to make the Jackson pullover (a long sleeve version of the tee) and am excited to get on that next.

Thinking about what to do when this project ends. I really want to continue to blog regularly. But how often? Etc.

Feeling lots of things. Happy, mostly. But also kind of restless. And very tired.

This is Day 84 of my 100 Day Project. You can learn more about my 100 day project by reading this postIf you want to do your own 100 day Project, I would recommend checking out the 100 Day Project website.
