Highlights of my year 2025

14 min read

2025 was a really good year! It was relatively uneventful compared to the previous ones – I neither fell pregnant nor gave birth which made it feel a lot calmer! There were hard moments but the good definitely outweighed the bad. We worried a lot about Edd’s work situation for a couple of months – facing impending unemployment and financial hardship isn’t fun. However, he has found such a great new job that I now feel almost grateful that he got made redundant.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves! Let’s start at the beginning.

January highlights

  • We had snow!
  • I finished sewing my second Hinterland dress – this time a sleeveless version in a burgundy linen. (Here are more creative projects I worked on during January.)
  • Going for pizza with L, SJ, SJs best friend and her mum. At a proper restaurant! Two adults and three kids three and under and we didn’t get kicked out!
  • L learned to walk!!
  • I overcame my fear of confrontation and voiced a criticism that led to a really fruitful conversation. I still feel encouraged by this incident.
  • Visiting some of our best friends and watching SJ and her their daughter play for ages on the trampoline.
  • Our little L turned one year old!
  • Here’s a Life Lately post from January that details a bit more what I got up to, was into and worked on during January. (I forgot how obsessed we were with watching the Traitors!)

Febraury highlights

  • More birthday celebrations for L!
  • Having auntie Susie and uncle Tyler fly over from England for a weekend was so so lovely.
  • I finished sewing a quilt for our bed.
  • We flew to England to be part of a church weekend away from our ‘home church’ – such precious times with God and many old friends.
  • Knitted a jumper for SJ and crocheted some wallhangings plus worked on some other creative projects.
  • Celebrating fasnacht and playing lots of dress up.
  • My February Life Lately Post.

March highlights

  • I started another 100 Day Project! I didn’t finish it but it was really enjoyable while it lasted!
  • We celebrated Edd’s 35th birthday. SJ was super excited for her daddy which was just so sweet.
  • The beginning of Spring – I know this happens every year but by March I am so done with winter and cold and sunshine and flowers are just the best thing.
  • I finally finished knitting my Copenhagen Cardigan. I have worn it lots this year, so happy with how it turned out!
  • Going to our friends house who have chickens who had babies. Little kids holding little chickens is the cutest thing in the world.
  • SJ started to draw people a lot more and it’s so cool.
  • After having suffered with pelvic and hip pain for nearly five years I finally had a physio therpist who helped me get to the bottom of the problem and I am fine now! It was such an answer to prayer.
  • Life Lately in March.

April highlights

  • I helped with a local kid’s clothes swap which was so fun and satisfying. It ticked so many of my boxes – doing something in my local community, good for the environment and helpful for people with fewer resources.
  • I tried punch-needle for the first time and really enjoyed it!
  • Knitting outdoors.
  • Getting back into sourdough.
  • Decorating Easter Eggs with SJ.
  • Going to a Peppa Pig theatre production with SJ. It was such a special little outing!
  • Much time spent outdoors with good friends.

May highlights

  • Another Engalnd trip which was so wonderful. We stayed with some really dear friends of ours and had so many good and healing conversations. Their kids and ours love each other and they have a cat! I went on a very successful shopping trip. Some of our best friends got married. The weather was gorgeous. It was so good. Being back in Lancaster is always such a treat.
  • We decluttered our garage.
  • It was the ESC and a former contestant performed in our village and we went to the concert!
  • My good friend Holly came to visit.
  • We harvested strawberries in our garden.
  • My parents took the girls and I to their church camp in Sursee in Switzerland and we had the best time.

June highlights

  • Buying new trainers. I don’t want to support fast fashion so I try to buy minimal amounts of new clothes so it feels even more luxurious to get a nice new pair of shoes!
  • I documented a week in my life.
  • My hero and favourite podcaster released a planning tool called playbooks and I got a set and they bring so much calm and fun to my life.
  • A date-night to celebrate Edd’s new job!!
  • Taking SJ to the cinema for the first time to watch – of course – Peppa Pig!
  • The arrival of summer!
  • Lots of gardening.
  • Celebrating both my parents birthdays. I’m incredibly grateful for both of them!

I am having some issues with inserting all those pictures into one post, so July – December will come in a few days in part two! Happy New Year friends!!
