100 Days of creating anyway – days 11 – 20

5 min read

You might not believe it but days 11 – 20 featured a lot more sickness in our home. Luckily I stayed healthy but am quite exhausted after too many nights with very little sleep.

So my motto of creating anyway, despite kids being home and me being tired is still very fitting! And actually, it’s so helpful to have this project right now.

Tiredness, exhaustion and a change of plans are such a good excuse to spend any free time scrolling. But I committed to spend this time making something. And that is so much more life-giving.

So here’s what I got up to on days 11 – 20!

Day 11: Blogging

On day 11 I wrote a blog post. I had a sleeping baby on me while typing it out on my phone. A lot of my writing gets done that way. There’s very little romantic candle light or soft music in a café while clicking on a keyboard. Most of my 2023 daily blogging project was created at the bedside of SJ while she was falling asleep.

I am not mentioning this to say “if I can do it you can” but more as a reminder to myself and maybe an encouragement to you, that every creative process looks different and sometimes margins are all you have and that is fine.

Day 12, 17 + 19: Finishing my quilt

Hand-stitching is a slow process but I actually really enjoyed it! And I am really happy with how neat my binding looks now. I added some final touches and “signed” and dated the quilt. And now it is complete! Hurray!

Day 13: Another long term WIP turned FO!

(In case you’re not familiar with crafting lingo – another work in progress turned finished object!)

I am so happy to finally have finished knitting my Copenhagen Cardigan! I have knitted on this for quite a while and redid almost half of it after not being happy with the pocket placement… but now it is actually complete, buttonholes, buttons and all!

I already wore it out once and just love it!

Day 14: Hand lettering

I used to love doing hand-lettering and calligraphy but haven’t done it in quite a while. As SJ loves to spend so much time drawing and colouring, I sat down with her and played around with some fonts and words. It was rather fun! I think I would like to watch some videos to get some more tips and ideas for different styles.

Hand lettering is such an easy and fun way to create and embellish cards and presents.

Days 15 + 18: Knitting on the flaxlight jumper

I have made a fair bit of progress on the flaxlight jumper for my friend’s baby! One day 18, which was a Sunday I knitted outside on the balcony, enjoying the sunshine and listening to a podcast during nap time. It was blissful! On day 18, I knitted while bouncing L in the carrier who was very sad with her fever. Quite a different vibe, but knitting makes both good and bad days better! Haha.

Day 16: Knitting on a blanket

On day 16 I also knitted but on a different project – the Nellike blanket. As it is a blanket progress is very slow but it’s a really comforting knit to work on!

Day 20: Cutting out a new project!

And finally, as I had finished sewing my quilt I started cutting out a new sewing project – the Orbit bag! It’s a quilted bag, so most of the evening I spent selecting fabrics and then I cut out the first colour. I am looking forward to hopefully work some more on this project over the next 10 days!
